This album hit me like a good blow to the stomach does. I put it on last week to get an idea of what I would be reviewing and like a new girlfriend, it quickly became a big part of my life. As you know I am a huge advocate of Wolvestribe, this project is related to that with one of the members being the sole member.

This London based crew remains a mystery, not really stretching out to other labels other than Harsh Noise London and their own Aaarrgh imprint producing cds and 10” Lathe Cut vinyl of their own. They play small gigs with some likeminded contemporaries in the capital and don’t seem to want to network out.  Aaarrrgh seems centred around Wolvestribe, Animal Machine and Kshayaath. If I were to talk about UK Power Electronics now, all of these projects would very easily be amongst our leading lights.

I have been unable to unwrap myself from the tentacles of this disc. Parts of it are explosions of crunch and static with Shamanic shouting inside. In other parts it uses rhythmic clanging or drops in sound for dramatic effect. I continue to be impressed by this album because it turns simple sounds into effective, direct assaults on the listener/myself. The rawness of the sound is so stripped down it becomes alluring it has held me captive over the last week. I’d been in discussion about the raw appeal of a lot of the best Power Electronics, this has all that in abundance. The artwork is as nasty as the sound...

I could say more about this album, but kshayaath and related projects are so important right now, you need to hear them, go forth and check them out.  Easily one of the best albums I have received this year.

Army of One alone in 2021.
